The story of a People's Awakening
Nigeria's story is one of resilience. For decades, Nigerians have longed for a nation that works for its people — where leadership is accountable, citizens are empowered, and every child has a fair chance. In 2022, a spark ignited into a movement. What began as ordinary Nigerians demanding good governance became the unstoppable force known as the Obidient Movement.
This was more than politics. It was a generation saying "Enough is enough." It was citizens, young and old, uniting across ethnic, religious, party, and class lines to fight for a new Nigeria built on justice, equity, and shared prosperity.
The Role of the Big Tent Coalition
To harness this energy and give it structure, the Big Tent Coalition was born — a platform bringing together civil society groups, professionals, youth organisations, diaspora networks, and political actors under one umbrella.
Founded by Professor Pat Utomi, a respected political economist and statesman, the Big Tent became the strategic hub for ideas, coordination, and grassroots engagement. Its mission: to organise the energy of the people into a political force capable of reshaping Nigeria's destiny.
Under Professor Utomi's leadership, the Big Tent not only amplified the call for change but also provided the organisational backbone to sustain the Obidient Movement before, during, and beyond elections.
